The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) also offers extended rehabilitation
programmes at six long-term care centres.
After the initial rehabilitation programme, some people continue their programmes at one of these centres to help consolidate progress before returning to the community:
Continuing rehabilitation is also available through our community services, comprising supported housing and 'own home' packages of care.
Our aim is to focus on each individual’s
potential for independent living. The centres combine comfortable,
modern accommodation with unobtrusive clinical supervision
from expert staff.
Some service users live in self-contained apartments
or specially designed bungalows near to the main unit.
