Staff benefits
As a member of staff you will benefit from working in some of the highest quality disability services offered anywhere in the voluntary sector.
In addition, we offer a range of outstanding employment benefits. Many positions have a benefits package in excess of those described below. This will be clarified during the recruitment process.
Annual leave
The Trust’s annual leave year runs from 1 June to 31 May. The minimum annual leave entitlement is 28 days per year for a full time post, inclusive of bank/public holidays.
To reward loyalty and commitment, the minimum leave entitlement increases to 30 days after three years’ service and to 33 days after five years’ continuous service.
The annual leave entitlement for managerial, clinical and directorate positions commences at 33 days per year for a full time post inclusive of bank/public holidays, rising to 35 days after three years’ service and 38 days after five years’ continuous service.
Annual leave for part time positions is calculated pro-rata.
Education and development
All our staff benefit from on-going opportunities to broaden their knowledge and skills through a comprehensive programme of continuous professional development.
Our policy is to support and reward talent, and we are proud that so many of our senior managers have risen through the ranks.
We can support your training up to and including degree and masters level, while our in-house NVQ training programme can help you achieve NVQs up to level 4 Registered Managers Award. We also offer a specialist brain injury training programme.
You’ll also benefit from professional supervision, enabling you to develop your skills and knowledge and improve job satisfaction.
Company pension scheme
The Disabilities Trust operates a Contributory Pension Scheme. There is no qualifying period for entry to the pension scheme.
Once you have completed the relevant documentation and joined the scheme the Trust will contribute 7.5% of your annual salary into a pension fund set up in your name. As a condition of this contribution, you will be required to make a minimum personal contribution 5% of your gross salary (4% net).
There is an option of making a lower contribution of 2.5% (2% net). If you take up this option the Trust will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your gross annual salary for the first two years of the pension, thereafter the Trust’s contribution will increase to 7.5%.
Maternity/adoption/paternity/family leave
We recognise the pressures of balancing work and family life. We offer a full range of statutory leave entitlements for maternity, adoption and paternity leave. We also offer urgent family leave, compassionate leave and parental leave.
Group life assurance
The Trust operates a Life Assurance Scheme, which provides the equivalent of twice your annual salary in the event of your death in service. The annual renewal of the scheme is 1st June. Entry to the scheme is automatic.
Sick pay
The Trust operates a Statutory Sick Pay Scheme (SSP) and an Occupational Pay Scheme. There is a range of full and half salary entitlements followed by SSP payments when staff are absent from work on long term sickness. The range of half pay and full pay entitlements is determined by grade and length of service.
Retirement
The normal retirement age for all employees reflects the Governments national default retirement age of 65 years for men and women. However, should staff wish to retire before this date, they will be able to do so.
Equal opportunities
We provide employment, training, promotions and other conditions of employment without regard to sex, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnic origin, disability, marital status, religion, religious belief, colour, nationality or national origin.
