about us
The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust
(BIRT) helps people regain the skills lost as a result of
brain injury
– whether caused by road accident, assault, stroke or
illness.
Our involvement may begin once someone with
an acquired brain injury leaves hospital and is medically
stable.
We offer a range of services designed to meet
the needs of people at different stages of rehabilitation
- from assessment to comprehensive rehabilitation, long-term
housing and care, and community-based support.
We currently offer rehabilitation services to
around 550 service users. All our programmes follow a neurobehavioural
approach.
Our clinical expertise, combined with excellent
facilities and a dedication to care, gives each individual
the best possible chance of rehabilitation following an acquired
brain injury.
Demand for our services is growing fast and
we are developing new
services to make a difference to the lives of even
more people.
BIRT is a division of The Disabilities
Trust and is the means by which The Disabilities Trust provides its brain injury services. The Disabilities Trust is a charitable organisation which provides services
to people with physical disability, learning disability and
autism as well as brain injury.
